TEXOGA'S JUMBO FIRE-FIGHTING TANK CONTRACTED FOR FOREST FIRE IN OREGON |
|
Houston, Texas – August 09, 2002 – Texoga Fire Technologies is pleased to announce that its Jumbo Fire-Fighting Tank has been contracted by the U.S.D.A. Forest Service to fight the massive Florence forest fire in the Siskiyou National Forest near Grants Pass, Oregon. The Florence fire, at over 300,000 acres, is already the largest fire in Oregon history. The Jumbo is part of a task force of hot-shot crews that are operating along a fifteen mile ridge. Their goal is to prevent the fire from spreading across a containment line separating the forest from the many towns along Interstate 199.
The Jumbo Fire-Fighting Tank has been chosen due to its 5,000-gallon water tank and remote foam monitor mounted on a decommissioned Leopard I main battle tank chassis. The vehicle has an articulating blade and all-terrain capabilities combined with a protected crew compartment sealed for chemical and biological protection. As Texoga CEO Steve McGuire describes, "The Jumbo was originally developed for the most destructive of purposes. We are fortunate to be part of the this international effort to reintroduce military technology for the preservation of poperty and lives." Texoga expects to convert three Jumbo units for U.S. Forest Service operations as well as refinery and petrochemical fire and rescue application.
Texoga Technologies Corporation specializes in developing health, safety and environmental products derived from military research. These products include the Deto-Stop explosion prevention filler material, SAFuel fire resistant and environmental alternative fuels and the Jumbo fire and rescue tank (operated out of its subsidiary Texoga Fire Technologies).
